LOCAL PEACE AND ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS HAVE FREE TICKETS TO SHARE FOR BAY AREA PREMIERE OF NEW DOCUMENTARY FILM, "COUNTDOWN TO ZERO"
 
WHAT: "Countdown to Zero," a stunning documentary from the makers of "An Inconvenient Truth," analyzing the dangers of nuclear weapons, premiers at two theaters in the Bay Area.
 
WHEN: Friday, July 30 and Saturday, July 31 (both dates at both locations).
 
WHERE:   The Shattuck Cinema in Berkeley and the Embarcadero Center Cinema in San Francisco.
 
WHO: "Countdown to Zero" was produced by Academy Award winner Lawrence Bender (An Inconvenient Truth, Inglourious Basterds) and written and directed by Lucy Walker (The Devil's Playground, Blind Sight). It previewed at the Sundance Festival and at the Non-Proliferation Treaty Review Conference at the UN.
 
LOCAL CONTACTS: Several longstanding Bay Area peace groups have received a limited number of FREE TICKETS to distribute to the public, thanks to the generosity of the Ploughshares Fund. The Livermore-based Tri-Valley CAREs (925-443-7148) has limited free tickets to the Friday and Saturday evening showings in both Berkeley and San Francisco. The Mt. Diablo Peace Center in Walnut Creek (925-925-933-7850) has limited free tickets to the Friday and Saturday showings at the Shattuck Theater in Berkeley. The San Francisco-based American Friends Service Committee (415-565-0201) has limited free tickets for the San Francisco showings. Call the groups for FREE TICKET show times. Free tickets limited to stock on hand, first come, first served. Other inquiries can be directed to the theaters.

ADDITIONAL INFO: The film is in the two above-listed Bay Area during this premier engagement. The documentary is slated to continue a limited run at the Shattuck and Embarcadero Center theaters after opening nights, so interested members of the public can attend during the week if they can't make the showings either Friday or Saturday night. However, FREE TICKETS are available only for select Friday and Saturday evening showings.
